This time we had a wine gathering at 2chef. To be precise, it was a gathering where I was the one buying the wine. The food was delicious as always, but the wine was in slightly disappointing shape. I really should have opened the bottles well in advance.

They say it is a fruit that even appears in the Bible, and it is gently sweet and tasty. There is a hint of jujube to it as well. Someone who had been to the Middle East brought them back as a gift, and we enjoyed every one of them.

The pasta at 2chef is a real treat. Everyone at the table is a big eater, so the course alone was a little short and we ordered a plate — and it was so good. We should have gone for the large portion..

The wines of the day

In the wine movie Sideways there is a line saying that you do not open a Cheval Blanc on a special occasion; the day you open a Cheval Blanc is the special occasion. That evening I had some truly special people over, so I opened a special bottle. It was a lovely gathering.
