I had an appointment near the Express Bus Terminal, and since I didn’t have much time I just grabbed something quick at the cafe attached to Dean & DeLuca.
Roughly this kind of atmosphere..
In Korea it has a very upscale image, but the prices are high too, so I don’t end up going much. If there were some killer item I’d make a point of visiting.
Croissant
It’s expensive, but not outstanding by any means. These days there are plenty of bakeries that do it better..
Chausson aux pommes, an apple pie.
Not a taste worth going out of your way for. If you can handle the prices it would be fine to treat it as your neighborhood bakery, but it’s so expensive that its identity feels muddled.
Hôtel Douce in Seorae Village
After finishing work I stopped by Seorae Village while I was at it. Hôtel Douce is a shop that sells all kinds of desserts. Not just cakes and macarons but jellies, chocolates, caramels and so on — a wide variety of desserts. They’ve opened branches all over lately, and the branches are bigger, so there’s probably no reason to come all the way out to Seorae Village.
Cake
A standard flavour. Not bad, but not strikingly delicious either.
Almond chocolates
I like this style of chocolate so I bought some, and they weren’t expensive and tasted pretty good.
