A few French restaurants have opened in the Gangnam area recently, and the best reviewed of them is La Saison. I had a lunch appointment and was wondering where to go, so we ended up here — and it was very satisfying. It sits behind Dosan Park, not far from Grano either.
Antipasto
Tomato and mozzarella. A safe way to open the course.
Bread
Something close to focaccia.
Cauliflower cream soup
A soup with real care put into it, and I liked it. It shows an originality you don’t find at other places.
Steak
The lunch course isn’t expensive, and yet a proper steak comes with it.
Chocolate tart
This chocolate was seriously rich. It must rank near the top of the desserts I’ve had in Korea. Beautifully made.
Fruit tea
They had a whole range of teas as well.
Complimentary dish
The chef came out himself and gave us an extra plate on the house. He was very young, which took me by surprise.
It may be down to the dessert, but this was the most impressive French meal I’ve had in Korea. It was a shame the place was so empty that day, but once business settles in the crowds should build up little by little.
