Continental Breakfast at the Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo

Six-star hotels usually don’t include meals, but the plan I booked this time had breakfast included in the room rate, so every morning I ate at the restaurant on the 38th floor. For non-guests the prices are really steep. There was the regular buffet menu and a continental breakfast with an added egg dish, and I was booked for the continental breakfast.

Water glass

It’s the same water glass I once saw at Caudalie.

Got to start the morning on a fresh note~

Salad and cake

Nice and fresh. It seems the Mandarin is famous for its cakes too.

Tea

Overall, both the food and the tea were very satisfying.

Omelette

This was the best omelette I’ve ever had at a hotel buffet. They really know how to make them. Maybe it tasted so good because of the melted cheese inside? A filling start to the day.

Here’s the inside..

Can’t skip the fruit.

Excellent sweetness with no off-flavours. The gold kiwis in particular seemed to be a very high grade.

I was really glad breakfast was included. It gave me a real feel for what six-star hotel service is like.
