What I Ate in Malaysia x Lazy Blog.

At last, this is the final post of my Malaysia trip. Almost everything we ate in Malaysia was Chinese food. Maybe that’s because it was a group tour. The taste? About the level of an ordinary Chinese restaurant. Thankfully, nothing was ever so bad that I couldn’t eat it. You can’t really judge the level of Malaysian food from the photos I post, but I’m short on time and a bit lazy, so I’m just putting them all together here.

Soup

Just ordinary Chinese style. Seems you shouldn’t expect much in the way of genuinely Malaysian food…

Stir-fried squid

Sweet and sour pork, I think.

Shrimp

Looks like it was stir-fried with miso, and it goes nicely with rice. Probably because I’m used to doenjang sauce.

Tofu

The tofu and the dishes in general feel almost the same as in Korea, Japan and China. Similar ingredients and a similar culture, I suppose. Honestly I was hoping for something a bit Arabic -_- or Indian, so it was a letdown that it was all Chinese food. Probably tailored to the tastes of Japanese tourists.

Slightly Thai-style, and honestly this is the kind of thing I wanted to eat. You can get Chinese food anywhere in Southeast Asia, Japan and Korea included. But that’s exactly why it’s a safe choice, too. And I guess that’s why you end up eating it so often.
