I took a domestic flight to Kuala Lumpur, and honestly it wasn’t much faster than going by bus. I got up early, and still half asleep, the first place I headed to right after arriving was a place called Melaka. It had its own character. There were a few historic buildings and a canal with nice scenery. The canal had giant lizards in it and the water was dirty, so it was the typical Southeast Asian vibe, meaning about as far from anything romantic as you can get. I think I kind of got why Days of Being Wild flopped while Chungking Express was a hit..
A small supermarket in Melaka
I stopped by to buy batteries, and they spoke a bit of English. That surprised me..
Colorful buildings
There were lots of buildings like this, and I have no idea why. Maybe for the tourists?
Heading down the canal by boat.
It’s hot out.
Lots of unusual buildings, not what you’d expect in Southeast Asia.
Looks like a well-off family’s house..
All sorts of houses
A small market
Seems to be for tourists. There’s a tourist spot near here.
The fountain in front of the church
An old church
Ruins on the hill
Nice atmosphere, but there were a lot of tourists.
A building like this
Amusement park
Something felt strange. That I could look at scenery like this and feel nothing at all. I think my sensitivity has dried up a lot lately. Not much moves me anymore.
Inside the building again
A cute cat and kitten
When I stood still, they came right up next to me. I wish I’d brought something for them to eat. Such a shame.
A cat getting petted
So cute..
Historic ruins
There’s plenty worth seeing, sort of, but the only thing that actually moved me was the cat. Maybe I should get a pet.. Then again, it’s hard enough just feeding myself as I go around.
