Some street photos of Okinawa I took as a keepsake. Almost all of them were shot from inside the monorail.

Traditional Okinawan buildings have holes in their walls. Maybe because of the typhoons, most of them are concrete. I guess that’s another way it differs from mainland Japan. I think it’s amazing that the island still holds on to such a distinctive traditional culture. Of course, about half the island is US military bases, but even taking that into account, it made me want to go back again.
(Come to think of it, where on earth is the Okinawa I saw in Sonatine? -_-)
