On this trip back to Korea, I went to Kanji Gogo, a Chinese restaurant on the way from COEX Mall
into the Oakwood hotel. I’d originally planned to have the lunch course at Mokran in Apgujeong,
but the meeting place changed all of a sudden, so I had to sort out lunch inside COEX Mall.
After dithering over where to go, I ended up at Kanji Gogo. I’d heard a rumor that they really know their fried rice,
so it was a place I’d been meaning to try someday.
Once there, the menu turned out pricier than I expected T_T I’d naively assumed they’d have something like Mokran’s lunch course,
but on weekends the course meals start at 40,000 won.. The cooking itself looked good enough to justify
that price, but still, a 40,000-won course for lunch is expensive, right..
So I ordered one chicken-and-peanut dish (I don’t remember its exact name) and a bowl of oyster jjamppong,
and asked them to split the jjamppong in two. Below is the chicken-and-peanut dish.. I shot it with my new *ist DS and the 35mm f/2.0 lens..
and to my eyes it came out pretty well ^_^; I’ll have to keep trying my hand at food photos.
I’d heard this place is great at fried rice, but in winter it’s got to be oyster jjamppong..
The oyster jjamppong was nicely made, with a clean, refreshing broth. A bit pricey, but quite good. I’ve only heard rumors that Andongjang’s oyster jjamppong
is the best in the business, so if I’m back in Korea next winter, I’ll definitely have to go.

It’s not in the photo, but the side dishes were good quality too. It’s a somewhat expensive place, but I think it’d be
worth going now and then.
