I go to Miro Sikdang in Hongdae so often that I’ve fallen into a bit of a rut… but what needs posting still needs posting.
Otoshi, the complimentary starter
A glass of draft beer
Grilled pork collar
A good way to start.
Suyuk bossam, sliced boiled pork
Exquisite.
Ellyeop Pyunjoo
It’s doing well on Instagram, so I gave it a try. It turned out to be a traditional yakju-style rice wine, and a rather syrupy one at that. Probably not worth going out of your way for.
Fried chicken
Close to karaage but a slightly different style. It has character.
Han Young Seok Cheongmyeongju, Batch 13
Clean and easy to drink. A flavour that suits a Korean pub. Apparently the taste shifts a little from batch to batch, so there’s fun in collecting them. It seems all sorts of things are being tried in traditional Korean liquor too.
Stir-fried squid
Ordered it for the first time in a while.
Hetbahn, the instant microwave rice
It’s good to have rice when you’re eating something spicy. Nice that they’ve started serving Hetbahn lately.
Saengseon-jeon, pan-fried fish fillets
Delicious.
Tangsuyuk, sweet and sour pork
This one is a work of art too.
Tteokbokki
We finished with tteokbokki on the house… they do it really well, as always.
