Pain de Echo, a Bakery in Seongsu-dong

Maybe it’s thanks to Seoul Forest, but Seongsu-dong is on the rise. I heard a bakery had opened, so I went to check it out.

The place

It’s a residential street, but they use the whole building. My guess is it won’t be long before this neighborhood is overflowing with stylish shops too.

The quality looks decent.

The space upstairs

Pain de echo

It’s sort of cafe-like, but maybe because it was winter, it was a bit cold. With the floors being separate the heating is a little awkward, but once more people start coming, that kind of problem will probably go away.

The quality is good, but I couldn’t quite tell what makes this place special. A few years ago this level would have been a huge hit, but I guess it’s because there are so many great bakeries now, like Comme d’habitude. I hope they keep growing from here.
