By now I go to Jinjin so often that I deliberately skip the introduction. This time it was a gathering for drinking champagne.
The main event of the day
Jacques Selosse Initial. Apparently it is famous as a wine from The Drops of God, but I have not been keeping up with the manga lately, so I would not know. In any case, it is a champagne everyone is raving about for its outstanding value for money. Having tried it, it definitely gets a thumbs up. How can it be this well balanced at this price.. Thanks to a very capable member who brought it along, we got to drink a great wine.
The wines lined up this time
This one is also from Lou Dumont, another name famous from The Drops of God. I had never had Jinjin’s food with nothing but wine before, and it was a completely different experience. Many thanks to the person who brought them.
Five-spice cold platter (ohyang naengchae)
Stir-fried snow crab meat
Menbosha (shrimp toast)
Zha chun juan (fried spring rolls)
Quanjiafu (mixed seafood stir-fry)
As someone who does not care much for spicy food, the chili oil bothered me a little. The quality is really good, though.
Ganshao daxia (king prawns in chili sauce)
Stir-fried garlic chives
Huajuan (steamed flower rolls)
I think this was the first time the flower rolls came out.
Boiled dumplings
XO fried rice
We ordered quite a lot of food and I wondered if we could finish it all, but somehow we did. As I always feel, there are a lot of seriously capable people around.
Pear for dessert
The petits fours from SONA that I brought
I brought ten kinds like this, and the response was explosive.
The response was so good that I have been thinking of setting up another chance to eat them, but all sorts of things have come up (Maison M’O among others..) and the chance has not come around. Well, it will soon enough. Within the year, I hope..
