Dongai Noodle seems to be a well-known noodle chain in Shenzhen. I think I spotted it here and there while walking around..

The place

It just feels like an ordinary franchise. As I’ve said before, places like this are the easy choice for tourists.. At the really local spots you pay with Alipay, but ordering itself doesn’t work, which is a problem..

Suanla noodles (hot and sour noodles)

Hot and sour noodles from the source.. as a hot-and-sour-noodle lover, I couldn’t not order them..

Braised beef noodles, I think..

Turns out hot and sour noodles are basically the version with nothing added.. and once you add this and that, it becomes braised beef noodles..

The noodles

The sourness isn’t that strong, but it feels a bit rough, I’d say.. The Japanese version is more refined, but I suspect this is what typical hot and sour noodles are like. Should be good when you’re craving something spicy..

Boiled pork with coriander

This would be perfect with drinks.. but it seems they don’t sell alcohol? Then again, you could just get it to go..

Blanched lettuce

Being a hot country, I guess the idea of eating it raw just isn’t a thing.. Anyway, it was tasty..

Anyway.. good value, and I enjoyed it. It felt like a hearty meal for about 5,000-6,000 won per person..

A convenience store in China

It was nearby so I went in, and the vibe made me take a photo. They seem to sell oden, and it looks even more serious than in Japan.. Quite fun, actually..
