This place seems to specialise in northeastern Chinese food. So whatever you order is cheap but comes in an enormous portion. I ended up leaving a lot behind, or taking it back to eat for breakfast.

All kinds of dishes, cheap and delicious. The problem is that it was so good that by the end of the trip I still hadn’t managed to order everything I wanted to try. You could say I ran into the great wall of China…

Anyway, even in a city that isn’t quite Shenzhen, it seems you can experience the best food from all over the country in any decent-sized city. There are plenty of northeastern, Hunan and Sichuan places too… I realised that in China, just going round the good restaurants in your own neighbourhood is endless.
