Zhujiao means pig’s foot, so basically pork trotters. There are lots of pork trotter rice bowl places in China, and Yukgang pork trotter rice felt more like a menu name than a shop name.

The portion was good, but the taste was a bit ordinary. Anyway, I learned that pork trotters are a very common food in China. In Japan only certain shops sell them, and in Korea there are dedicated pork trotter restaurants, but compared to those, pork trotters actually seem more mainstream in China.

Since it’s cheap, ordering a bit of everything is one way to go.

Honestly, this isn’t a place that does it especially well.. the portions are good, but I don’t think I’d go back two or three times, and one more issue is that pork trotters are such a greasy dish that eating them with rice tastes good, but I figured it’d get hard to eat as I get older.. these days I prefer something lighter.
