Back then, there was a trend on Twitter where kids would promote their parents’ small businesses. We’re in the middle of a recession, and even shops that used to do fine are struggling, so it was an attempt to get through a really tough time by pitching in voluntarily like that. I happened to come across it myself, and since there was a decent-looking place nearby, I went to check it out.

From the outside it’s an ordinary neighborhood mandu shop.
Price list
Reasonable. Cheaper than Seoul, I’d say. When I asked whether I could eat inside, they said it was takeout only, which makes me think the Twitter promotion is having quite an effect. I suppose this is how a society where people help each other out gets built.
Kimchi mandu
The wrappers are thin and packed full, so they’re tasty. Maybe a little greasy, though? Then again, that sort of thing is nice while they’re still hot.
Shrimp mandu
This is properly good. Honestly, Bibigo’s mandu is so good these days that I don’t really feel the need to go out and buy any, but if a place is this good, it seems worth picking some up once in a while.
Oki Bakery
I spotted this bakery in the neighborhood while walking past, and places like this have opened up in Imhak too now.. Korea’s development is amazing..
