Koikeya Pride Potato, Maboroshi no Imo Imagane Danshaku
It comes out every winter, and since it showed up again this year I picked one up. It tastes good.
Cup Noodle Winter Limited Shiro Miso
A bit too sweet for me..
Salt Butter French Bread (Raisin)
It has a touch of brioche about it, and the raisins keep the sweetness just right, so you keep reaching for another. It’s so addictive I polished the whole thing off in no time.
Saikyo Don Bei omusubi
Not as good as I’d hoped.. Don Bei is best eaten as Don Bei..
Q.B.B Baby Cheese
The premium line has the porcini-scented smoked bacon one, plus Luxury Almond and Rich Pistachio, and they work well with a drink. The porcini-scented smoked bacon in particular is the best of them as a snack.
Tokyo Hachioji Onion Shoyu Ramen
I was curious what it would taste like as a cup noodle so I bought one.. the actual shop is far better.. the gap is so wide that there was no point buying it..
Basil and Camembert Okaki
It was fine, nothing more.
Sapporo Ichiban Shio Ramen Turned Into Udon
Hmm.. it was just okay.. turns out it doesn’t really suit udon..
Calbee Kata-age Potato, Yuzu-scented Sea Bream Dashi
This one was good. The sea bream flavour came through strongly.
Otona no Sparkling Vodka
Lawson was running a “test product fair”, and they were selling things you wouldn’t expect. This time they’d made a sugar-free sour.. the taste was so-so, but I like that they try things like this.
Potato Chips Atarime Flavour
Another test product, and the chips genuinely taste of dried squid. Now, you could just eat dried squid as dried squid rather than going out of your way to eat it as a potato chip, but maybe it’s because I like dried squid: it tastes good. The catch is the smell is strong enough that everyone around you knows exactly what you’re eating..
Wakame Ramen x Puchitto Nabe Kimchi Nabe Flavour
Surprisingly good. A slightly spicy broth packed with wakame, and it tastes very Korean. It feels like a good thing to eat in winter.
Wasabeef Made With Hokkaido Potatoes
It’s just Wasabeef. The kick is strong enough that I couldn’t really tell the difference in the potato.
Jagarico Karai Yatsu, Extra Hot Indian Curry
Pointlessly hot, is how it feels..
Sugomen Yokohama-born Sanma-men
It had more beansprouts in it than I expected, so it did taste something like sanma-men. They pulled off a decent reproduction of the original.
Meiten Junk Santouka Tonkotsu Shio Noodle
Junky, all right. Still, I think Sumire is the best of the lot.
Pure Potato Grilled Bacon Potato
It was just okay..
Meiten Junk Ippudo
This one clears the bar, as you’d expect.
Shango Vesuvio Spicy Seafood Tomato Ramen
The noodles were unremarkable and the soup was on the spicy side.. you can taste the tomato and the seafood, so it’s not a bad one for a Korean palate, but for noodles it really has to be Nissin.
Shango-style Rich Meat Sauce Ramen
This one tasted a lot like Chapagetti. The noodles were disappointing again, though..
Assassin’s Pasta
Spicy seems to be the trend lately, and I bought this one because the design is cute. It was decent enough. Not that it’s anything special..
Cratz Chicken With Wasabi Shoyu
It’s a snack, and as something to go with beer it was passable. Apparently a Kirin brewer supervised it.. but it isn’t all that remarkable.. still, there’s no way a salty snack doesn’t go with beer..
