Fish at the local supermarket

At 500 yen a plate, that is not a bad price. Next to it they were selling torafugu for 1,290 yen, which had me wondering whether it is really okay to eat a luxury ingredient at that price. So I bought some, and it is springy and delicious. To think you can buy proper fugu at your neighbourhood supermarket..

Yamaokaya dried noodles

The famous Yamaokaya has put out dried noodles? I cannot believe it..

Juice vending machine

These seem to be the trend lately – you put your money in and it squeezes oranges into juice right there. I tried it and the sweetness is the real thing. But it is so thick and sweet that I do not think I would drink it again. Young kids would love it.

Smoky Highball

I picked it up at Don Quijote and it is drinkable. Not bad at all for this much smokiness at this price. Don Quijote carries a lot of products with fun concepts.

Togouchi Whisky Highball

Togouchi is a minor Japanese distillery, but this highball was pretty good. You can make a good one if you put some care into it, yet so many of them feel slapped together.

Donbei kitsune soba

It had a big piece of fried tofu in it, which made it good.

Raisin bread

It was just about okay.

Suntory Brandy Sonic

It says tonic and soda, but this one is a bit of a miss.. it had a sort of chuhai style to it.

Riku Highball

Riku is a whisky from the Fuji Gotemba distillery, and now it comes as a highball too. It was decent value for money.

Torys Highball Craft Cola

This one is a bit of a miss.. the trouble is you really cannot tell the quality before you drink it..

The genuinely delicious Torii Sauce kaki no tane

These are seriously good. I found myself wondering who came up with the idea of coating kaki no tane rice crackers in tangy Torii Sauce. I think I need to stock up on these.

Yebisu Ibushi

This one was a bit of a miss.

A collab between Wakame Ramen and Puchitto Nabe

It tastes like wakame soup with kombu tsuyu added, and it was pretty good. It also has the flavour of the ramen you eat to finish off a hot pot.

Kizakura Highball

A total failure.

The Busker Irish Whiskey Highball

Irish whiskey always seems to be good value.

They sell Yamazaki even in a place like this.

Not that I have any intention of buying it..

Goose down at Nitori

I had no idea Nitori had a 65,000 yen duvet.. it surprised me, so I took a photo.

For the price, this one was drinkable..

Gindaco

A place I drop into now and then when I go to the supermarket. It is tasty, so there is no way to go wrong.

Kimchi napolitan

Kaldi was selling this.. apparently it is made with kimchi, butter and gochujang.. I cannot believe such a horrifying hybrid exists..
