If Yaizu has the Sakana Center, then Shimizu has Ichiba-kan. Think of it as a fish market.
A place like this
It sits roughly around Shimizu Port, has a bit of a tourist-spot feel to it, and the place is big.
The maguro shop right out front
I just took a photo because it looked good.
The entrance
Plenty of people were coming through, even so.
Inside
It feels a little smaller than the Sakana Center, but there’s still a lot packed in.
Kaisendon and sushi
They looked delicious.
The fish
This really did feel like a proper fish market. The Sakana Center, by comparison, didn’t have much fish at all..
Ogawa, a restaurant with a sea view
Nice atmosphere. Looks like it would work for a date, too.
Kaisendon
Stopping by when you have time to kill and grabbing one to take home seems like a good move.
Fish
Seafood
There’s a surprising range of it, so it gives off a bit of a Noryangjin feeling.
The view of Shimizu Port
Beautiful.
The shop map
There are quite a lot of them. Looks like a good place to drop into when you’re passing by.
