Mexican food seems to be getting more and more popular in Korea too. Among all of them, I went to Villa Guerrero, which has a reputation for being good.

Villa Guerrero

It isn’t on the main street but tucked a bit off it, and there were plenty of people. There was even a bit of a wait. It especially felt like a place a lot of people use as a date course. In an atmosphere like that, an old guy should eat quietly and leave quickly..

I came here to eat tacos, so of course I had to have one.

What I ordered that day

Basically, the nutty corn tortillas were loaded with finely chopped fillings and spices. The chorizo was slightly spicy, and the mixed carnitas taco was packed with pork offal, so it tasted a lot like sundaeguk.. An old guy can’t help but love that. Both were satisfying, but the weekend-only Matapirata surpassed them both — chunks of green chorizo went in, so it was spicy and had a nice chew too. That said, the fillings are piled on so generously that you can spill while eating the taco, so it’s a good idea to wear suitable clothes.
