I heard an Atelier Pond cafe had opened on the third floor of Galleria Luxury Hall, so I went to check it out. The original Atelier Pond is famously hard to get into, and its desserts get fully booked the moment reservations open, so despite the high prices they are hard to come by — which makes a branch like this very welcome.
The vibe in here
There is more seating deeper inside the cafe, so it was roomier than I expected and finding a table was not difficult.
These are the desserts they sell.
Looking at how many baked confections you get in a box, it is hard to call it outrageously expensive.. but the price does add up, so I actually think it works better as a gift.. For whoever receives it, this is an expensive dessert that is hard to get hold of, so they are bound to be pleased..
The menu
It was so pretty I had to take a photo. They are really good at design..
Rooibos tea
A lovely place to spend some time in style. It feels like a hotel lounge.
Water glass
Little details like this are nice too.
Apple Monblanc
Rich and deep like chocolate, with apple inside — it was delicious.
Truffle Jambon Financier
The financier had a strong truffle flavour and did taste good, but it felt like finger food. It was a bit like coming for dessert and being served a meal.
At this level it is perfectly good, but I do not think it is head and shoulders above the other places that do this well. Dessert shops these days are all just so good.. Still, the concept is nice, so I think it makes a good buy as a gift.
