Bongsanok, a Hwanghae-do Mandu-guk Specialist by Nambu Terminal

Seocho-dong, around Nambu Bus Terminal, has quite a lineup of good restaurants. Gangnam used to be a new town, but now it has become an old town, and I suspect that is why. Even if it only started developing in the 80s, once 40 years or so have gone by you start getting places with real history.

Front entrance

It was really packed. They call themselves a mandu-guk specialist, but it looks like a great place for a drink too.

Menu

The drinking-snack lineup looks solid.

Squid sundae

It tastes like a seafood donggeurangttaeng (Korean pan-fried patty), and eaten with the sweet myeongtae sikhae (fermented pollack), it makes a great drinking snack.

Mandu

It has a North Korean feel to it.

Broth

This is how neatly they pack it up for you.

Mandu-guk

It is mild and plain, which made it perfect for a cold winter day. It is a flavour I think of once winter comes around. There used to be quite a few places like this in Gangbuk, but I had no idea there was one in Seocho as well. Maybe it is because this is a neighbourhood with plenty of middle-aged guys.
