While hunting around for a good hotteok place, what turned up was the vegetable hotteok at Namdaemun.
This is the place
The line is long, but it moves fairly fast.
Roughly this kind of scene..
Plenty of foreign visitors line up for it too.
Vegetable hotteok
The filling
It may be called a vegetable hotteok, but it feels more like a bindaetteok packed full of glass noodles. Sweet-salty and crisp, and eaten piping hot it would go nicely with a drink, but I doubt I’d go out of my way to have it again. I do wonder whether the plain hotteok is any good.
A view of Seochon
A cat in Seochon
I’d heard Seochon had changed, so I went to have a look, and that place has changed a lot again as well. The speed of change in Korea is astonishing, but I suppose all of it is only possible because the economy has been developing. What happens if that growth ever stops, I really couldn’t say.
