Enokitei, like Elena, is up in Yamate. It is a former mansion that has been converted into a cafe.. the line was incredibly long and I did not have much time, so I just bought the famous Cherry Sand and a few other desserts.

A place like this

I can see why it is so popular.. but it was far too hot a day.

A building like this..

The inside is full of old-world charm too. I could see why people queue up.. and the staff all being in maid outfits feels only natural in a cafe with this kind of atmosphere (Rengatei was the same).. but there were so many people that I could not take any photos..

All sorts of desserts and teas are laid out on display.

The cakes

They do not only sell the Cherry Sand; there are all kinds of cakes too, but in this weather there was not much I could carry around. If I lived in Yokohama the cakes would probably be worth ordering..

Cherry Sand

Oh.. this is really well made. Fine buttercream with preserved dark cherries inside, so there is no way it could taste bad.

The other sands

There are the Marron Sand, the Chocolate Sand, the Fromage Sand and so on, and they are all tasty, but the number one really is the Cherry Sand. And it strikes me as remarkable that an old-fashioned dessert like this still tastes this good today.
