It’s been a while since I made it to Anagoya. The food here is, well, outstanding. But the budget runs about 70,000 won a head, and given that we’re middle-aged guys who usually settle the drinks bill somewhere in the 30,000-40,000 won range, we don’t end up coming all that often.

They really know how to cook. The mineo (croaker) jeon was delicious too. Thanks to that I drank a lot of soju that night.

Still, you have to eat croaker at least once a year. I’d originally meant to go to Nodeulgang, but it’s croaker season and the place was far too crowded. The croaker sashimi at Anagoya lives up to its reputation. They serve the rare cuts properly too. The roe, with its cheese-like texture, was delicious as well.

The soup was a bit weak, though.. and with croaker the soup is supposed to be the main event.. I was too full to eat much of it anyway.. but still, a bit of a letdown.. I miss the croaker meetups we used to have. Won’t be possible for a few years yet, though..

Getting extras like this on the house is what makes Anagoya so appealing.
