There is a billiard hall called Suzy Q in Hakdong, and Suzy Bap is the eatery inside that billiard hall. The Namdo food, the regional cooking of the Jeolla provinces, is so good that I have been back many times. There are not many places doing it at this level.
Mungtigi raw beef
Unless it is seriously fresh, raw is not an easy way to eat it. Maybe because it comes straight from the source, it had a nice chewy bite.
Stir-fried nakji octopus
Unbeatable as a soju snack.
I remember it being croaker jjigae, I think.
Inside
Whole steamed squid
The side dishes
Every one of the side dishes is full of flavor.
Rice
The rice is multigrain too. It seems to be a bit of consideration for the middle-aged guys who come to the billiard hall.
Grilled croaker
They are small, but the flavor is packed right in.
Spicy croaker maeuntang
Yukjeon
All of it is soju food.
The menu
There is a lunch special too.
Autographs, too..
Up until then I had been ordering without looking at the prices, but now there is a price list.
For roughly 30,000 to 40,000 won a head you can eat very well. The menu changes from day to day, so if there is something you want, it is best to book ahead.
Braised pomfret
They are big..
Inside Suzy Q
Back when covid was not yet serious it was nearly full every time, but it does feel like there are fewer customers now. Well, that is only natural..
