I ended up having to meet some juniors in Ikebukuro.. Well, even in a tourist spot like this, if you look properly there are places worth eating at. Sniffing those out is a matter of instinct..
This is the place.
A chain? It does have a bit of that feel, but the menu looked serious, so I picked it.
Tantanmen
Sichuan sounds insanely spicy, but once it gets to Japan the heat turns into something you can actually eat.. Different from Korea..
Crispy rice
Something like this is nice to spoon up too.
Boiled dumplings
I’m rather fond of gyoza, and this place is at a high level..
Fried rice
Ordered to neutralise all the spicy stuff..
Mapo tofu
Nicely made and tasty.
Xiaolongbao
This one was just so-so..
It was a good place for a few people to casually order a variety of dishes. If you come sightseeing in Ikebukuro and can’t spot anywhere to eat, it’s worth a visit. Stating the obvious, but Chinese restaurants get more synergy the more people you go with..
