Choseian, a Soba Shop in Tsukiji

I always seem to end up dropping by Choseian in Tsukiji on weekends.

This is the place

Tsukiji choseian

I’ve posted about it before: the soba is ordinary, the ingredients are extraordinary, and it’s a slightly pricey soba shop.

The fridge

The sake list at this neighborhood soba shop is perfect for a morning drink.

Inside

Tsukiji choseian

It’s a small place.

Today’s Oma tuna

2,500 yen… well… that’s Tsukiji pricing for you.

Shirasu-don

Tsukiji choseian

I took it to go, so the photo isn’t pretty, but the shirasu is the real deal.

Tempura soba

Tsukiji choseian

The tempura… in other words, the drinking snack has a flavor that calls for sake. You get the whole “drink first, noodles after” ritual in a single bowl.

It’s a bit on the pricey side, but the taste is solid, so I’d like to drop by again next time.
