One beautiful day, a friend from my foodie club got married.
Sunshine
For a wedding day, weather like this is pretty good.
Today’s spread
Not bad at all.
A drink to suit the occasion
I haven’t had many chances to drink lately, so I brought along a bottle of Hyakunen no Kodoku, and it was so good. It’s a barley shochu, so it’s a bit like whisky, but it goes even better with food.
For round two, we headed to a Chinese restaurant in Yeonnam-dong that’s supposed to be hot these days.
Yeongyo
I don’t remember exactly, but I think it’s run by a relative of the Hyangmi people, or something like that.
Dongpo pork
I like that it comes in small dishes. You get to try a variety of things, and the food itself is on the tasty side.
Century egg tofu
Nice with a drink.
Stir-fried chives
This was good too.
Stir-fried eggplant
Quite a high standard.
Pan-fried dumplings
But for a place named Yeongyo (the ‘gyo’ being dumpling), the dumplings are just so-so.
Xiaolongbao
Same here.
Mianbao xia (shrimp toast)
The shrimp toast was nicely fried.
Beef noodle soup
The noodles
Most of the dishes were above average, but I think it would have been even better as a dumpling specialist like Pyeonuibang.
