Libertable is a cake shop that’s well known even within Tokyo. It already has counters in department stores, too. Since I’d come all the way to Akasaka, it would’ve been a shame to leave without stopping by this place right in front of Hie Shrine, so I dropped in.
Cakes
The standard here is really high.
Cakes
They sold a bit of bread as well.
Kouglof, too…
Baked goods

Drinks, too…
The shop isn’t big, but there’s a simple little space with a few tables, so I tried one cake. I was on my own that day and felt awkward ordering two, so I only got one, which I regret.
Chocolate cake
This is Libertable’s signature cake, and even though it uses rich, dark chocolate, it isn’t heavy at all. Exactly the style I like.
Grape juice
Ordered in an attempt to be healthy…
Cross-section of the cake
So delicate. I wanted to try the other cakes too, but that was enough for today…
I do wonder whether such a serious cake shop can thrive in Akasaka, but with cakes this good it would do well anywhere. I’m looking forward to whatever they come up with next.
