Sushi no Midori, Ginza

The line at Sushi no Midori in Ginza is always long, so I never really planned on going.. but I had plenty of time, and when you are eating with a middle-aged guy friend, going somewhere pricey and atmospheric feels a bit off, so this time I dropped in.

On weekdays they hand out numbered tickets, but on weekends you just stand in line. I would recommend arriving an hour to thirty minutes before opening.

Crab miso salad and chawanmushi

What really impressed me is that even the basic dishes taste good. Not what you expect from a popular place at this price range.

I asked for a glass of water and got it in this cup..

Classy joint..

The Tokusen nigiri set

A lineup like this for 2,000 yen is just astonishing. Chutoro, crab, anago, uni and so on. It has to be close to cost price.

Of course, for the price it is satisfying, but in absolute terms it does fall a little short. Well, you could always pay 9,000 yen and go to Kyubey instead, but that is a big price gap.

A really good lunch for a low price. When you are eating with a middle-aged guy friend, a place like this is just right..
