Joongang Haejang near Samseong Station

A new haejangguk place opened up by Samseong Station, so I went to check it out.

The entrance of Joongang Haejang

Come out of Samseong Station on the Park Hyatt side and walk in a little way, and there it is. I had heard it was a brand-new haejangguk place, but it turned out to be a pretty big operation.

Naejangtang (offal soup)

The offal is generous.

There is a guide to eating it the tasty way.

Chili oil, mustard sauce, and so on and so on.. Regulars will know all this already, and I know it too, but usually I cannot be bothered and just eat it as it comes.

Haejangguk

The offal is really substantial, and there are not many places in the Gangnam area that do it at this level. You can walk out well and truly full.

Bingsu at Mealtop

There is a Mealtop in the Hyundai Department Store in Samseong-dong, so it makes a perfect second stop.

While I am posting the Joongang Haejang photos anyway, here are a few more I took around Gangnam.

Near Sinsa Station

Summer weather. Looking at it now, the photo has come out a bit bent. I did not do anything, honest..

McDonald’s handmade burger

jungang haejang

Handmade burgers are all the rage these days. I have already tried Lotteria’s, but I wonder how McDonald’s will turn out..

Galbitang at Deokeunjip Amso Hanmari in Sinsa-dong

jungang haejang

It is a slightly pricey galbitang, but the ribs came with an enormous amount of meat on them. Galbitang is on the heavy side, so you just pair it well with kimchi. Deokeunjip Amso Hanmari is one of the few places in this neighborhood with a genuinely huge parking lot. It is not cheap, but once you factor in what parking would cost, it is worth dropping by.

Galbitang, I forget where

jungang haejang

Lately I find myself having galbitang for lunch quite often. I caught a bad summer cold, among other things, and I have been craving soup a lot, and galbitang is just the thing at times like that. Maybe I am extra fond of it because it is a dish you can only get in Korea.
