Lately a lot of good restaurants have opened up in Haebangchon. This is a place I had only heard the name of before, and I finally made it there after it got famous. Olde Knives is a bar with the concept of serving reasonably priced steak. And when I actually went, the steak prices really were very reasonable. But we drank far too much, so the bill came to quite a lot. I would recommend going with people who drink in moderation..
The bar
They have pretty much everything. Rather than cocktails, I think a decent whisky to go with the steak, just a glass or two, is the way to go.
The meat
I had heard the meat is good here, and they really do use good beef.
The highball I ordered
Glenmorangie Lasanta
It looked like we were going to drink a lot, so we just ordered the whole bottle. And it vanished in no time..
Salami
A friend brought this back from a trip to Spain, and it is incredibly good. Naturally, we asked the restaurant for permission before taking it out.
Jamon
We also brought some top-grade jamon, and it is the best thing to snack on with drinks. No wonder the booze kept going down so easily..
The meat
I forget whether this was tenderloin or sirloin, but the quality is good.
The meat
We ordered a different cut, and I think this one might have been even tastier..
The meat
We asked for one more plate.
Everyone was really going for it from the very first stop. They would put the big eaters on TV to shame. I think these might be the best members in the country for an impromptu gourmet meetup.
