One sunny weekend in March I had a wedding to attend in Jamsil. Having come all that way, there was no way I would skip the good places in the neighborhood. I could skip lunch at the venue, which saves a meal ticket, and I would not have to eat mediocre food either, so it is a win-win for me.. two birds with one stone.

Seokchon Lake

Spring had arrived and it felt wonderful. Not that it fits a post going up in midsummer.

Inside the shop

It is fairly close to Seokchon Station. Very spacious and comfortable. The L’atelier Monique in Cheongdam-dong that I used to frequent has closed, so now I cannot eat this without coming all the way to Jamsil, which is just such a shame. Well, I still have to come by now and then.

A wide variety of cakes. There are a lot more places at this level these days, but in this neighborhood it would hold an absolute edge.

Quite a lot of variety.

Ham and cheese brioche, misugaru cream bun, mentaiko baguette

My picks for the day. The mentaiko baguette here is truly, truly delicious. The balance of crunch and saltiness is to die for. I would love a glass of wine with the mentaiko baguette as a snack, but that was not the mood that day.

Tomato juice

With the Cheongdam shop gone it has become a bit of a hassle to get to.. and of all places, Jamsil, home of Lotte World.. Still, I am glad such a wonderful shop lives on. The surroundings are pleasant too, so combining it with a stroll would make an excellent weekend outing.
