Lately I have been going to Apgujeong Rodeo quite often. Not to hunt for restaurants, but because it is the best neighborhood in Korea for buying sneakers. I have no idea why so many shoe stores are clustered in such a posh area, but thanks to that I often find myself dropping by to check out new releases from brands I personally like, such as New Balance and Adidas. This time I went out to look at some Stan Smiths, suddenly got hungry, and walked into the first place I saw, which was Robot Gimbap.
The front of Robot Gimbap
The motto here is healthy gimbap. It is a chain, and I vaguely remember seeing one in Gyeongnidan-gil before.
The basic table setting
It is a gimbap place, so simple. I could have ordered ramyeon on the side, but that would have taken me further away from healthy, and besides,
Cheese and vegetable gimbap
The full name was too long and I have forgotten it.. anyway, among gimbap places with a similar concept, this one has real volume. Lee’s Gimbap is more of a snack, while this is on the level of an actual meal.
Close-up
The rice is brown rice and the filling is packed tight, so it is healthier than I expected. I really hated having to pay for tasteless, unhealthy food whenever I was out, but something like Robot Gimbap seems just right for a light meal. On taste alone Lee’s Gimbap is better, but the location and the size of the store seem to suit my routes and my tastes. It does feel like a lot of capital went into it, though.
