Tsukiji Sushi Sen is a proper sushi chain with its main shop in Tsukiji. Its rival would be Sushi Zanmai. It is not a very expensive place, but the value for money is nothing special either, and the food is not outstanding. Still, it is quiet, it was close to my home and it stays open late, so I remember dropping in now and then when I lived in this neighbourhood. This day I had some business nearby, so I stopped in for a while and had dinner here over a drink.

A light glass of sake to start

If it is a junmai, at least use Yamada Nishiki, right? It was about 1,000 yen and tasted very good.

Otoshi

Nothing much to it.

Salmon and mackerel

Ordinarily tasty. The neta was fresh, but the shari was a bit disappointing.

Scallop and kohada

The fish is fresh, so it goes well with a drink.

Maguro

These days I prefer akami to otoro.

Tako

A drinking snack, as always

Anago

I finished with sweet, soft anago. While the other sushi was ordinary, the anago was actually quite good. With that I wrapped up round one and moved on somewhere else. No need to fill up at a sushi place of this level.
