Toritsubaki got famous thanks to the TV drama Kodoku no Gurume (The Solitary Gourmet). After it appeared on the show, the line at the main shop was so long for a while that there was no point going, but the Asakusa branch was fine.
Daikon salad
A simple salad dish. Nothing on the menu is expensive, so you can enjoy yourself for around 3,000 yen per person.
The mega highball, for scale
I think this is the item everyone knows from the drama, so I compared it against two beer mugs. Ridiculous size, right?
Steamed chicken
I do not remember this one well..
Chicken skin
Not my thing, but I can see some people liking it..
Ham katsu
The thickness is no joke. It is fair to call this an izakaya that wins on portion size.
…
At this point my memory is hazy..
Fried chicken tulips
Better than I expected.
Yakitori
It comes grilled on an iron plate rather than on skewers.
…
It was already two months ago, so my memory..

Grilled bacon
Bacon grilled hard and rough. With all that salt and fat it cannot be good for you, but the taste is truly fantastic.
Crispy chicken skin
A bit greasy
Fried avocado
This is another dish from Kodoku no Gurume. The avocado skin makes it awkward to eat, but it tastes good.
Pancakes
Pancakes to finish. Pretty decent.
An izakaya where you can drink freely without worrying about calories or budget. The food is decent too. But for the same money I could go to Kameido Horumon.. so I doubt I will come often. Kameido Horumon really is a game-breaker of a place.
