I was craving Italian food for the first time in a while, so I went to a well-known Italian restaurant in Asakusa. The place is called Monte Bianco, and the owner apparently trained at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Italy.
A glass of wine
Not particularly memorable. At a place like this it would be better to come with a group and open a bottle.
Kir
A cocktail of white wine and cassis liqueur; I was told it was good.
Minestrone
They said it was a special, so I ordered it, but it was a bit ordinary.
Risotto
Rich in flavor, and the grains of rice still had bite. This is the taste of a first-rate restaurant.
Handmade pasta with shrimp and zucchini
Maybe because the shrimp were so fresh they seemed alive until a moment ago, the nutty richness of the heads had melted right into the handmade pasta. I really enjoyed this one.
Another good find in Asakusa. On weekends the orders seem to back up a little, so it would be nice to drop by on a weekday evening and take it easy.
