A friend said he had a lot of Italian wine, so we decided to get together, and after thinking about where to go I booked Gran Gusto. The owner put together a special course for us that day, so we ate really, really well.
Bread
So-so
Carpaccio
I think it was trout, if I remember right. Nice and fresh..
Macaroni
Nicely cooked.
Tomato and mozzarella
Fresh tomato and mozzarella topped with basil sauce and a big pile of arugula. A proper Italian-restaurant antipasto.
Cucumber rolls and beef rolls
Good as a light bite with drinks. But this is supposed to be just the beginning, and the portions are already staggering…
Squid and asparagus
Seasonal food coming out. The white asparagus was especially memorable.
Eggplant and pen shell scallop
Excellent dishes, the kind you’d expect from a real Italian restaurant. They’re especially strong with seafood.
Gratin
I’m not a fan of very rich food, but it really was tasty. And yet after eating all this, the pasta and the main hadn’t even started.. A normal person would have retired around here.
Tomato sauce pasta
I think they said it was fresh pasta.. I’ve always had just the set course at Gran Gusto, so I didn’t even know they had pasta like this. And so begins the pasta round..
Clam pasta
They said it’s their recent signature dish. The broth is clean and refreshing, just fantastic.
Anchovy pasta, I think..
Everything’s delicious. A world you can’t taste on the regular course.
Steak
Finally, the main…
Tiramisu
Dessert arrives.
Yogurt ice cream
One more dessert..
Come to think of it, I didn’t take a single photo of the wine. We even opened a Hibiki 21 at the end and I have no photo of that either.. This post ended up rather lacking.
Bingsu at Rotiboy, Seolleung Station
We went for a second round, but they say it’s not as good as it used to be.
Strawberry bingsu at Rotiboy
Maybe expecting too much from chain-store bingsu.. It happens.. Though I won’t be going back..
