Ippuku, a Well-Known Soba Shop in My Neighborhood

When work gets so busy it gives me a headache, I have to step out for some fresh air no matter how little time I have. Not that I can just drop what I’m doing and run off, but helping out with work in a different area can’t hurt, right?

So, using an outside errand as an excuse, I headed to Ippuku, a soba shop that’s fairly well known around here.

My companion had the duck soba

Generous portion, and very satisfying.

I had the tempura soba

Soba just has to come with tempura… there, I said it, like a true middle-aged guy with a growing belly. It’s a shop the locals rate, but it’s not national-level. The tempura skills and the ingredients are a bit weak. It’s good enough to swing by now and then when you’re craving soba, and that’s about it.

They use the local soba, and the noodles are nice and rugged.

They even give you a quail egg like this

Though it doesn’t really do much beyond looking nice…
