Makuhari Seaside Park

This post was written in 2005. Some information may be out of date.

I was having lunch at the Prince Hotel with its great view when I suddenly wanted to visit the park right in front, so the moment
I finished eating, off I went. Every photo here was taken with the 77mm. Why? Because I bought the 77mm and had never once
tested it. I wanted to switch to the 31mm again and again… but I felt that if I didn’t take some test shots I’d
regret it later, so I stuck with the 77mm all the way. Shooting landscapes with a telephoto was seriously hard work…

It’s gorgeous if you walk all the way to the end. ^_^; Why is it curved like that? …Because of the surfers.

Not an umineko (a “sea cat”, the Japanese name for the black-tailed gull) -_-;; but an actual cat, for some reason prowling around in the middle of the path.

I played with it for a bit. The way it rolled around and stretched was so cute… Next time I go to the park
I think I’ll have to bring some cat food along for it.

When you shoot landscapes with a telephoto… I guess candid shots of people end up being the main thing. Nobody paid the camera
any attention at all…

This is the monorail that runs around Chiba Station. It’s pricey and only covers short distances, so as a means of transport it’s
not all that useful… but a train running upside down, hanging from the rail, is a novelty, so it makes for a bit of sightseeing in its own way.

Sure enough, the 77mm is made for portraits. From now on I’m definitely not pushing it, and I’ll shoot with the 31mm.
