I hear a place called Butcher’s Pier has opened up by Samseong Station. It’s a buffet from the Butcher’s Cut people, and apparently it’s popular these days. I suspect that’s because the value for money is pretty good.
The scene around Samseong Station
There was construction going on, so I took a photo.
Bithumb…
Still around and doing fine, I see…
Butcher’s Pier surf & turf
I don’t know the details, but the concept seems to be serving steak and lobster at the same time.
Inside
Elegant. It also feels rather optimized for influencers.
Inside
The space isn’t all that big, but there’s a bar too, and it’s quite well put together.
Food like this
Lots of variety.
Food like this
Looks like it would be good for you…
Food like this
There are canapes as well…
All kinds of food…
They go really well with a drink
There’s pasta too…
Everything tasted pretty good.
Desserts as well…
But in the end it’s not that easy to make it all the way to dessert…
Shrimp, I think.
Have to try these too…
There’s cheese as well…
There’s plenty of stuff to go with drinks.
Roast beef, was it…
The quality isn’t bad.
Seafood
This all looks delicious too…
All kinds of food…
There are far too many kinds to have one of each…
Today’s wine
It was good…
Snow crab and lobster
I think this is the reason this place is so popular. It’s a bit different when you come alone versus when you come as four, and if you show up as a group of four or more you definitely get the feeling they look after you. Snow crab, lobster, steak… They focus on the mains, and what comes out is generous and tasty enough that you barely have time to eat any of the smaller things.
Steak
This was good too, but…
T-bone steak
This one really is an enormous amount of meat… You could say the Butcher’s Cut DNA is in there. I gather this is another thing you can order once there are four of you. Considering what you pay per person, they really do serve you well. It holds its own even against buffets where you’d probably have to pay twice as much… That said, the reason they can do it is that they concentrate on the quality of the mains once the numbers are there, so if the mains don’t matter much to you, or if there are only a few of you, I don’t think you get this much for this price…
The bar area
Nicely and cleanly done.
Anyway, gourmet trends are usually driven by people in their twenties and thirties… because that’s the age when you can eat a lot and have a bit of income too. So whenever I go to a trendy restaurant, I end up learning what young people are into these days… and what I learned this time is that fussing over the little dishes doesn’t mean much; you have to turn out a big, good-looking main so it looks good when you post it on Instagram. In that sense, I thought this place is very much on trend… which is why business is going so well.
