Hwaryong Banjeom in Bucheon

I heard Hwaryongbanjum is famous for its Japchae-bap, so I decided to check it out.

A place like this…

Since it’s in Bucheon, I suspect it’s a Chinese restaurant run by ethnic Chinese Koreans.

Side dishes

These are pretty simple.

Interior

The vibe is your typical Chinese restaurant, but it’s quite packed with people since there’s usually a bit of a line.

Menu

Pretty standard.

Soup

This was just okay too…

Japchae-bap

It looked great, but it was spicier than I expected. Like a peppery kind of heat… I’m sure younger people would love this kind of spice, but for me, it was just so-so. I’m not exactly a fan of the recent trend of spicy chili Jjamppong either; I feel like everyone is too obsessed with spicy flavors these days. It’s hard for someone like me who can’t handle spice.

Interior

The fried rice was well-stir-fried. So the taste is good. The only problem is that it’s too spicy.

Hans Heim

There’s a bakery like this nearby. I took a photo just in case. Though I’m not sure if I’ll actually have a reason to visit…
