Dumpling Jin is a mandu (dumpling) specialist in Hongdae. A place like this in Hongdae? I thought, but when I looked it up it turned out they have been open for quite a long time.
Here it is
They only seat you once your whole party has arrived. Probably because the place is so popular.
Harbin
It seems like plenty of premium Chinese beers are making it over here these days. This one tasted pretty good too.
The menu
Names I had never seen before kept turning up, which makes me think this place does it properly.
Jjeunggyeo (steamed dumplings)
They call it the basic dim sum, but the flavour is deep and it is full of juice.
Sanggu (mushroom dumplings)
The mushroom aroma is genuinely a work of art. Delicious. This is the one I would tell you to order.
Guotier
Pan-fried dumplings. These were good too.
Mueo Junhyeop (squid dumplings)
These were tasty as well.
To try a few different kinds you would want to come as a party of four, and everything was good. It was so good that I got some to take away.
Inside
The inside is not all that big, so they seem to be mindful of turning tables. In any case, I was impressed that a genuinely good restaurant like this is still hanging on in Hongdae, when most good places get priced out by the rent..
