Bakeries in Nagoya

Nagoya has plenty of good bakeries too, but a lot of them are a bit far to reach on a short trip. That is exactly why the bakeries in the Takashimaya department store, connected straight to Nagoya Station, are so precious.

Breads at le supreme

Nagoya bakery.

I stumbled on this place in the Takashimaya basement, and when I looked it up later it turned out to be a well-known bakery in town. Like 365 Nichi, the Tokyo bakery, the loaves here are small and packed with substance.

Apfel

Nagoya bakery.

They say it is a tarte Tatin rearranged as a bread, and there was cream inside, so it was delicious. The curry bread was top-notch as well.

A good place to have found.

Vermicular Bakery

Nagoya bakery.

I did not really know what Vermicular was, but it turns out to be a famous cookware brand.. This is the bakery they run, and they make lovely bread here too. I could not carry it all home though, so I gave up this time. On top of that, when I dropped by again around evening almost everything worth buying was gone.. And lugging bread around all day is no fun either.. A department store basement is easy to get to, but it comes with this problem.

A photo I took in passing because it looked pretty

Nagoya bakery.

Apparently it is the piece that took first place in Japan at the 2015 kiri cream cheese contest.. There really are all sorts of curious things in a department store basement.

Echire in Nagoya!

Nagoya bakery.

Nagoya is not that different from Tokyo, really..

Patisserie MiMi

Nagoya bakery.

It caught my eye as I walked past, so I took a photo.

A hitsumabushi restaurant

Another one I shot in passing because it looked good..

BURDE, a pizza place

Nagoya bakery.

I thought about having lunch here, but it was already full. Popular places have to be booked in advance.
