There is a place on Shiba shopping street called Ikomaken that is famous for its tanmen. I found out about it thanks to the manga Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles..

When I tried to come here before they were not open, but this day they were. I hear they use noodles from Kaikaro.

Spicy tanmen
Even though I set the heat to 0.1, it was seriously hot.. the kind of heat you get from Cheongyang chilies.. I did think I should have just ordered the plain, non-spicy tanmen, but the spicy tanmen is what this place is famous for, so that was not an option..
The noodles
Maybe because they get them from Kaikaro, the quality is good.
Chinjao rosu
In Korea this would be gochu japchae. Judging by how nicely the dish was done, they clearly know their cooking.. which makes me think they did not really need to push the spicy angle.
