A junior colleague who lives in Silicon Valley came to visit, and the original plan was Sakana Bal, but it’s hard to get in there without a reservation. So we went to Kameido Horumon right across from it instead. Kameido Horumon has a queue too, of course, but it’s easier to get into than Sakana Bal.
Bean sprouts
Beef tongue
Nikomi (offal stew)
I always order the nikomi.
Tontoro (pork jowl)
Jo-kalbi (premium short rib)
Green onion
Three kinds of horumon
Everything tastes great, so there’s nothing more to ask for.
Round two at a gyoza place, Yasubee
Apparently it’s popular after being on TV. Ramen felt like a bit much, so we came here instead.
Beer
Yaki-gyoza (pan-fried)
More ordinary than I expected.
Sui-gyoza (boiled)
These were a bit better, but next time I think I’ll go somewhere else.
Ryuen in Shinjuku, first time in a while
This was a different day, but I had nowhere else to post it, so I’m tacking it on here.
Champon
They do it well.
