I go to Tsukiji pretty often, but I rarely bother taking photos. Getting up early on a weekend morning is never easy. Here are the handful of shots I did take.

Seafood curry at Nakaei in the inner market

It’s a spicy, Indian-style curry. The heat is the real deal, which I like, but maybe because it’s only 1,000 yen, the seafood itself is just so-so. If you want to eat properly at Tsukiji, it seems you have to pay at least 2,000 yen…

Oden from Tsukugon

Their oden was delicious and unbeatable value for money, so I used to go buy it all the time, but they closed at the end of June. It was a huge shock. The reason for closing, apparently, is that the craftsmen had simply gotten too old. Such a shame. It’s a shop with enormous brand power, so couldn’t someone take it over and keep it going? Then again, how many craftsmen these days would want to take on the hard work of making oden…
