The Lounge at Hotel New Otani

The lounge at Hotel New Otani in Akasaka is famous for its Japanese garden. There aren’t many places where you can eat while looking out over a Japanese garden right in the middle of Tokyo.

Roughly this kind of atmosphere

The lunch buffet is around 3,000 yen, and taste aside, a view like this is worth paying for. Which is why the place is absolutely packed.

It’s a really big hotel, and it’s always full of people. It feels a bit like a maze too, so you have to be careful not to get lost.

Bread from SATSUKI

The New Otani has two dessert and bakery specialists, Pierre Herme and SATSUKI. This time I tried SATSUKI, and it was seriously impressive. The beef curry bread was about 700 yen, and while the bread itself was delicious, the filling was no joke: chunks of meat in every bite. No wonder it costs that much. The curry bread I had a while back at Trial felt almost exactly like this one. Maybe SATSUKI is the original.

Cakes

Very classic in style. I suppose they’ve kept the old-fashioned style exactly as it was.

I ought to earn a lot of money and become a regular at a bakery like this, but I’m not quite there yet. I’m telling myself to work a little harder for it.
