Moguri, Pork Yakiniku in Azabu-Juban

I’d been to Moguri once before; it’s a pork yakiniku restaurant with a clean, calm atmosphere. They cook good-quality meat with real care, so it’s delicious, and since it’s pork the prices are very reasonable too. Personally I’ve ended up using it mostly for business get-togethers.

Getting there

Even Azabu-Juban has an AFURI now..

Today’s omakase menu

3,000 yen a head in Azabu-Juban? That’s just unreal.

Great design sense.

Starting with the vegetables

They say the vegetables come in daily from their own farm. That’s only possible at a certain scale, so it’s quite an impressive restaurant. Which is why it tastes good, too.

The sausage goes on the grill first.

Appetizers are laid out as well.

Sausage, done

They handle the whole process for you, so all you have to do is eat.

Today’s sake

It’s Jikon. Apparently the manager here got friendly with the person in charge at Jikon and was able to get a bottle. And we went and drained it that night..

Bacon on the grill too.

Everything is high-level and clean-tasting.

Well.. it’s deep-fried, so of course it’s good.

Jikon

The aroma is just incredible. You need to drink it from a whisky glass to really get the fragrance. How good is it? Among all the sake I’ve tried, it’s in the top one or two.

Horumon (offal)

The course came out in quantities that left us pretty full.

It doesn’t have the rough-and-ready feel of a regular yakiniku joint, but when you want a slightly more formal meal now and then, it’s a great choice. I hope my work goes well and I get more occasions to entertain clients, so I can come here more often.
