Instagram Food Pics Roundup

I started using Instagram a little while ago. I have been trying out various social services, and Instagram was the most appealing of the bunch. The filters are so good that even the food I threw together at home looks great on Instagram. No wonder so many people have taken it up lately.

Guinness and Shin Ramyun Black cup noodles

Lately, for various reasons, I just have not had the time to cook, so for the first time in ages I tried instant noodles, and the Shin Ramyun Black cup version was actually pretty good. I did not expect much, but the noodles were chewy, and the mild broth, which tastes like Sari Gomtang broth mixed with Shin Ramyun broth, was tasty too. On top of that, it even looks kind of classy once you put it in a bowl. It is a pretty good combination, so I want to try it again as a late-night snack.. but after eating such an instant-y noodle my stomach could not take it the next day..

Duvel and Shin Ramyun Black

There are a few famous, easy-to-find beers I still have not tried, and Duvel is one of them. It goes down really smooth. The value is pretty good too, so I will probably end up buying it often when I get the chance. The ramyun is the packet version of Shin Ramyun Black, but I kind of botched cooking the noodles. At times like this the cup version might be the better bet.

Pilsner Urquell

A beer someone recommended to me on Twitter a while back, and it is really cheap. The taste is not bad either, and in terms of value it is an excellent beer, but drinking it right after Duvel, it is a bit less impressive.

Budějovický Budvar

A Czech beer, like Urquell. About the same level as Urquell. Great value again. But if I am going to drink anyway, I would pick Duvel..

Old Rasputin

A rich, dark stout. It has a strong personality, but not the impact of BrewDog’s Rip Tide.

This is what it turned into after an Instagram filter.

Jjajjaroni

jjajjaroni

To wrap up the noodles + beer series, I tried Jjajjaroni. After this I stayed away from instant food.

Judging by the posts floating around the internet, Jjajjaroni is supposed to taste amazing, but when I actually ate it the sauce was way too sweet. Chapagetti has a greasy sort of taste (which is why Chapaguri, made slightly spicy, is good), and I think greasy beats sweet. There is a reason Chapagetti is so popular. A lot of the opinions from self-styled experts on the internet are posted without properly eating the thing or comparing it against similar foods. It is kind of annoying. Anyway, this is something I learned by eating it myself, so if Jjajjaroni posts go viral again I will have to actively set the record straight.
